What's Interesting

This is our 3rd or 4th coffee that we have from Daya Bensa. We have never had such an outstanding coffee selection like Daya Bensa which we think it is worth to be featured multiple times on our offering. Won several awards and COE competition, Daya Bensa hold such a high standard for excellence Ethiopia coffee. This round,we are so happy to offer Peaberry Ethiopia coffee.

Normally Ethiopia coffee sell to local or international buyer based on coffee quality such as Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4. It is hardly to see any coffee farmer and coffee producer to sell coffee in Peaberry size. Common coffee cherries has 2 coffee seeds. Sometimes only one of the two seeds is fertilized, and the single seed develops with nothing to flatten it. This oval (or pea-shaped) bean is known as peaberry.

Peaberry size is common grading size in other coffee producer country but not in Ethiopia. Daya Bensa has taken initiative to separate Peaberry size coffee and offer to coffee roaster in small lot offering. We think this is good opportunity for any coffee lover who are interested to experience such a rare size coffee from Ethiopia

Roaster Notes

I'm happy to close 2020 with unique coffee from my favorite coffee producer Daya Bensa. I learn so many things about Sidama coffee since we bought a lot from them. Shantawane already famously know form superior and complex coffee flavors. In general i described Sidamo as berries flavor driven coffee. Shantawane inherited this solid reputation and deliver more that I expected. Especially with Peaberry size, I noticed the berries flavors taste is prominent and getting intense as it cools down. The acidity and sweetness taste well balance where you can pickup good fruity raspberry notes with delicate sweetness of honey and nectar. By far this is the 'lightest' and clean berries taste I had from Sidamo region.
