The Sunrise

One of the biggest perks of direct trade is getting full transparency about the coffee we source and ensuring consistent, sustainable quality. We've been partnering with Curtina for three years now, and each harvest feels like unwrapping a gift. This year, we’re thrilled to feature their latest innovation: an 84-hour raisin natural process coffee.

Wana, the mastermind behind Curtina Coffee, is the kind of guy who lives and breathes coffee craftsmanship. He’s always pushing boundaries by refining farming practices, experimenting with processing methods, and fine-tuning coffee grading. For this harvest, he’s crafted a unique blend of natural and anaerobic processing techniques, resulting in coffee with refined fermentation flavours and delicate fruity notes.

The raisin natural process is something special. Cherries are first dried for 3–4 days until they resemble raisins, then fermented anaerobically for 84 hours before being sun-dried on raised beds. This meticulous process creates a cleaner, more vibrant flavour profile that redefines Bali coffee. In the cup, you’ll taste refreshing green citrus fruits like green strawberry, balanced by jammy grape acidity. As it cools, the citrus notes turn sweeter, amplifying watermelon flavours with a creamy texture reminiscent of the fruit’s flesh. We call this beauty Matiya Surya, a truly one of a kind Bali coffee experience.

The Producer

The story of Arkib Coffee wouldn’t be complete without Bali coffee,it’s where our roasting journey began. Back in the day, the first beans we ever roasted were fully washed Bali coffee. Their vibrant flavours and the joy of the craft instantly hooked us, sparking a passion that turned into a career. From that moment, sourcing coffee directly from Bali became a dream we’ve chased ever since.

Our search led us to Curtina, a small coffee producer nestled in the Kintamani highlands. Founded by Wana Prastha, the son of Sang Kompyang who is a commercial coffee producer and processor, he has taken Bali coffee to new heights. Under Wana’s leadership, the team has pushed boundaries with experimental techniques like anaerobic and yeast processing, unlocking bold, unique flavours.

Unlike typical commercial operations, Curtina is dedicated to specialty coffee. Each batch is thoughtfully curated from multiple micro lots, using various fermentation and processing methods to showcase the beans’ best qualities. Thanks to this meticulous approach, Curtina has become one of the top direct producers we trust in delivering exceptional coffee every single time.
