Processing washed coffee in regions like Ethiopia is a luxury, as it requires a consistent, high-quality water source to properly carry out the process. Our latest release from Duramino washing station exemplifies this, as they leverage their location near a pristine river to ensure the water used is fresh and clean, resulting in a perfectly executed washing process. This harvest is a testament to their meticulous work, emphasizing a harmonious coffee profile.

Duramino coffee showcases a complex and fully developed taste profile. It offers the sweetness of cantaloupe and the fruity notes of dried orange, complemented by a subtle ginger flower aftertaste. When paired with milk, the coffee reveals an enhanced candy-like sweetness and a smooth texture. We also highlighted flavors reminiscent of candied fruits, gummy candy, and a creamy milk powder texture. Duramino Tafac is simply the best choice for Ethiopian coffee lovers seeking a quick yet flavorful coffee in the morning.

The Producer

The Duromina Coffee Washing Station, nestled in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region at 1,984 meters above sea level, has grown from humble beginnings into a key player in the coffee industry. Established nine years ago by the Duromina Primary Cooperative with 189 members, it now supports nearly 400 farmers. The station has expanded operations to include two additional sites, each processing up to 200,000 kg of red cherries annually, with plans to scale to 1,000,000 kg. Its workforce comprises six permanent staff and up to 120 seasonal workers, reflecting its growing role in the local economy.

Duromina’s meticulous coffee processing involves sorting, pulping, mechanical mucilage removal, and drying on raised beds for 7 to 11 days, ensuring consistent quality. Once processed, the coffee is stored in secure, concrete-walled facilities until shipment. These rigorous practices underscore the station’s dedication to producing high-quality coffee that meets industry standards.

Beyond coffee, Duromina is committed to environmental sustainability and community development. The station actively engages in reforestation efforts, infrastructure improvements, and farmer training programs to enhance livelihoods. Despite financial challenges, it consistently upholds regulations through regular audits, solidifying its reputation as a responsible and forward-thinking leader in Ethiopian coffee production.
