Coffee Companion

It is always rewarding to continue roasting coffee from the same producer season after season. Each harvest carries its own expression yet remains rooted in the same intention and craft. With Kevenka Coffees we see this continuity take shape again as they return with a clearer vision and renewed motivation.

This washed anaerobic lot reflects how far they have progressed since the previous harvest. Through significant investment in processing equipment Kevenka has refined their washed anaerobic approach to preserve clarity while enhancing elegance. The result is a cup that allows the true character of East Java to shine through with balance and transparency. We chose to present this as an omni roast to capture its full versatility across both filter and espresso.

With rest after roasting the coffee develops greater complexity. On filter it opens with a woody aromatic profile reminiscent of sandalwood alongside chrysanthemum florals and winter melon sweetness. As espresso it deepens into osmanthus like florals with a lift of lemon and sea salt before settling into marzipan and lemon candy sweetness. With milk the profile turns silky and custardy revealing magnolia sunflower seed and honeydew with a creamy impression of mango milk. Kevenka continues to reshape how washed Indonesian coffee can be experienced.

The Producer

Kevenka Coffees is based in Surabaya East Java with its milling operations rooted in the Ijen Highlands. Surrounded by fertile volcanic soil and a steady climate the region shapes coffees with depth character and a distinct sense of place. Their work is built on close relationships with local farmers producer partners and collectors forming a supply chain grounded in trust and long term collaboration.

Quality begins at origin and continues with discipline at every step. Each delivery of cherry undergoes strict selection upon arrival where only the ripest and most consistent fruit is chosen for processing. This careful sorting ensures integrity from the very beginning preserving clarity sweetness and structure throughout the journey from farm to export.

This season Kevenka presents three expressions of their craft Natural Washed with 48 hour anaerobic fermentation and Natural with 48 hour anaerobic fermentation. Each process reflects a focus on controlled innovation and thoughtful experimentation. With a more experienced team upgraded equipment and improved drying facilities the current harvest shows higher consistency stronger cupping results and the ability to scale production without compromising quality.
